In each corner there is something to discover, to read or touch. The salt factory is an industrial, historical place and is rich with stories. [...] At the end of the production everything radiates. WAZ, Ruhr Trienale, Essen, Germany 2008
Above all however this is industrial theatre. One finds clear, beautiful pictures [...]. Ideas appear like fireworks creating magical moments. [...] it has clearly been developed here in this space, for this area.
(NRZ) Salt, Ruhr Trienale - Essen & Theatre Rites - London 2008
Salt (co-director and scenogrpaher), was a performance installation created in a four-storey derelict salt factory in the Zollveriene Cokery for the Ruhr Trienale, Essen, Germany in 2008.
The building was originally home to the transformations and chemical processes that created sodium phosphate (Salt) from coal. During each performance 90 audience members were taken on a magical journey, inspired by the space, its history, alchemical imagery and the power of archetypes.
