New publication: “Emplacing and Walking the Menopause” in ‘Reimagining Menopause’, July 2026

I'm delighted to share that my chapter, "Emplacing and Walking the Menopause", has been published in 'Reimagining Menopause', The Sociological Review Monograph Series (Volume 74, Issue 4), published by SAGE. Edited by Shani Orgad, Belinda Steffan and Odessa Hamilton, the collection brings together interdisciplinary perspectives that explore how menopause can be understood and reimagined through lived experience, culture, creativity and social change.

My chapter reflects on the development of Walking the Menopause, a long-term creative practice that explores how walking, landscape and collective experience can open up different ways of understanding and living through menopause. Combining photographs, maps and reflective writing, it considers how emplacement—the practice of situating experience within particular landscapes—can generate new forms of knowledge, connection and wellbeing.

It has been a privilege to contribute to this important collection alongside such thoughtful and inspiring contributors.
