Alongside my creative practice, exhibitions and research, I regularly devise and facilitate participatory, site-specific workshops for universities, galleries, festivals and cultural organisations. Often developed alongside exhibitions, research projects or publications, these workshops invite participants to engage creatively with landscape through walking, drawing, mapping and other scenographic processes.

Each workshop is rooted in the central themes of the project from which it emerges. Rather than teaching a fixed method, they create space for participants to explore their own experiences of particular life events through creative enquiry, conversation and making. Many participants have shared experiences connected to the themes being explored, and the workshops are designed to be reflective, supportive and imaginative, enabling new ways of seeing, understanding and responding to both landscape and lived experience.

Recent Workshops

2026 – Parabolic Field Workshop, Honister Slate Quarry, Cumbria

• Two-day collaborative field workshop with colleagues from the University of Leeds as part of the Parabolicresearch project. The workshop explored site-specific creative methodologies for working with objects through landscape, using walking, observation and a range of drawing approaches developed through the Pigment project. Participants worked directly with geological materials, landscape and place to explore creative research methods.

2026 – Working with Objects: Methodologies for Teaching, Learning and Research, University of Leeds

• 40-minute practical workshop within an interdisciplinary symposium organised through the Parabolic research project. The session introduced site-specific creative methodologies for working with objects through walking, drawing and embodied engagement, bringing together researchers from a wide range of academic disciplines.

2025 – Becoming Rock: Lecture, Drawing and Mapping Workshop, Peter Scott Gallery, Lancaster Arts.

• Lecture and participatory workshop alongside the Becoming Rock exhibition, exploring health-related life events through walking, drawing, mapping and creative practice.

2024–2025 – Walking the Menopause

• Developed and facilitated a series of individual and small-group mapping walks across Cumbria and Lancashire, exploring menopause through walking, conversation, drawing and creative mapping. These workshops formed part of the wider development of the Walking the Menopause project.

2023 – Walking the Menopause: Scout Scar, Kendal

• Participatory walking and mapping workshop developed for International Women's Day, inviting participants to explore menopause through landscape, walking, conversation and creative map-making.

2023 – Emplacing Life-Events in Peel Park, Wild Wanderings and Creative Cultivations, Salford

• Participatory mapping-walk workshop inviting participants to explore personal, social and environmental life-events through walking, observation, drawing and discussion.

2022 – Walks to Remember: Walkshops & Recipe, #WalkCreate Gathering, London and online

• Participatory workshops exploring memory, walking and creative practice through mapping, drawing and shared conversation.
